SUOMEN ROTUKISSAYHDISTYS RY was a pioneer in the Finnish Cat Club activity. The Club was founded in September 29th in 1960. During the first year it had 20 members, the second one already 60, and at the moment there are some 2200 members in the Club.
\nThe executive organ in SUROK is the board. SUROK has also 1 active regional division, The Division of Kymi in the south-east of Finland.
\nThe governing body in the Finnish Cat Club activity is Suomen Kissaliitto ry (the Finnish Cat Union). The Cat Union has 13 member clubs, and it is a member of the European cat Fancy organization FIFe (F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale F\u00e9line). FIFe is a federation of over 30 member Clubs, and all member Clubs adhere to the rules and directions of the Federation.
\nClub Activities<\/strong>
\nSuomen Rotukissayhdistys ry organized its first international Cat Show in April of 1961. In the first show there were present 43 cats, of which foreign ones were 19. During the last years the Club has organized four International Cat Shows per year, in each participating about 600 cats.
\nThere are also several Member Happenings organized each year. Included in these are lectures by veterinarians, breed presentations, breeder and assistant courses, Christmas party etc.
\nYou can join SUROK even though you do not have a pedigreed cat or a cat to take to the cat shows. As a member you have the right to take part in all of our fabulous happenings, receive the Kissa-magazine 5 times a year and also get home our Surokissa- club magazine.<\/p>\n
